Organizational structure
In order to set the EarthFund platform up for success, we've taken a mostly decentralized approach with a few necessary elements of centralization.
EarthFund: the platform, code, development etc... are all owned by a private, for-profit company. This allows us to raise capital from traditional sources that can go towards developing best-in-class tools for people around the globe to use to make the world a better place.
EarthFund DAO and all causes on the platform: everything that happens on the platform is decentralized. If you have governance tokens, you have a real say in everything from what causes get added to the platform to which projects get funded. On top of that, the team and early investors have pooled their tokens to be programmatically liquidated at a sustainable rate from November 2022 so that we cannot retain a controlling interest in anything that happens on the platform.
While the building/growth of the platform is centralized for now, we're open-sourcing all of our code from everything we build so that the community can use all of the tools we've created to build their own world-saving projects.
